Baby Rex get's sick

So our baby had his 1st real sickness of his life...

All of us seemed to have caught a little cold after we got back from Colorado. So on a Monday we all didn't feel well but thought it would pass, well Tuesday we still felt pretty icky so we went to instacare here in town to make sure we didn't have anything bad. We were all told we had cold and it would just run it's course. So Chad and I ended up feeling better throughout the week and Rex was doing a lot better as well. Then on Friday he really didn't feel well when we got home from work, we thought it was just teething. By Saturday he had a fever of 103 so we decided we need to take him to be checked again. So we went to the instacare in St. George. He had a rash all over his little legs and his eyes were so red and he didn't want to eat anything. They checked him out and said it seemed that he had an ear infection. He was put on amoxicillin and we were told he should be feeling much better in a day or two. And we should give him ibuprofen and Tylenol to keep the fever down.

Monday came around and he still had a fever of over 100 but Chad and I went to work anyhow. My mom called and said he really wasn't feeling well and his rash was getting bad so we should take him up to see his normal doc. Luckily they were able to get us in that afternoon. Dr. Smith looked him over and said he didn't have an ear infection but might have adenovirus (sp?) so they stuck a cotton swab up his nose to run the tests. She said his throat was very, very red and that was probably causing him to not want to eat. She said we should stop giving him the Rx the other doc gave him and to just try to keep him hydrated and wait for the results to come back. Well we got the results back on Tuesday evening and they were neg. So we really don't know what was going on. However on Wednesday he started to feel better and started eating again! It was so great to have him feeling better... poor baby.

I will admit, it was nice to cuddle with my little guy though. Most of the time he is just wayyyy too busy to be held and cuddled so he'll have no part of it. But for about a week I got to snuggle with my boy and just try to make him feel better. Here is a picture of us from Tuesday, I stayed home with him just in case he was contagious.

Happy 4th of July

Well, I'm a bit late - as usual! But happy 4th of July! That was a fun weekend, Bryce came down for the weekend and we took him and Olivia up to Zion to do a little hiking... it was quite hot though but once we reached the upper pool on the hike the kids were able to play in the water and cool off while Chad and I sat in the shade and relaxed.

We let the kids light off a few fireworks and sparklers. Monday morning Bryce went home. We took Rex to the bunkerville park to meet up with some friends and watched the fireworks. He did really well even though he was super sleepy. When we got back home Gary and Olivia came over to light off the rest of their fireworks - one of them made a loud noise and that really scared Rex and he was done for the night, but it was super late anyhow.

The following weekend Penny & Luther drove up from Cali for a visit! It was great to see them and for them to meet our little dude. Unfortunately we didn't get to spend much time with them because we had a vacation planned! So the next day Jadon took his first trip on a plane (he did very well)!

We went to Paonia Colorado to visit Chad's side of the family. Chad parents went with us as well. It was really nice to see Bonnie, Terry, Cody, Brandi and the girls!! Paonia is a really small town but it was really pretty and cool. Chad and I enjoyed taking walks in the morning. You can walk anywhere you'd like in that town. Bonnie cooked a thanksgiving style dinner for all of us which was really nice of her. Cody and Brandi took us around to some of the local vineyards/wineries! That was really cool, we were able to sample wine at each of the places and we bought a bottle of each of our favorites and then they were so kind to send them back to us!! It's such a family friendly place there that we brought the babies with us to the vineyards and also to the little local brewery... pretty cool!

Last weekend there was a little going away party for Olivia, she is going to go stay with her mom for a year. We've gotten to know her really well and we're going to miss her. I hope she enjoys her time with her mom and family!!

Looking forward to next month and the month after Rex will be 1!! Yikes time is FLYING!!!

Lots of 1st

Well it's June and summer has arrived! Luckily the weather has been pretty nice though and we are still enjoying some days in the 90's.

This past month Jadon has been a busy boy! His 9 month check up went well. He's a little on the small side but is healthy and everything so no one is concerned. He's a little over 19lbs and he is 27.75 inches tall.

In the past month Rex has started to crawl like a big boy

Climb like Spider Man (notice the Spider man PJ's hehe)

Went on his first hike at Zion (last time he was still in my tummy)

Pull himself up and walk along the furniture

Wave Bye-Bye

Say dada

and he even has 2 little teeth!

He also got his 1st booboo - He crashed into the coffee table, it was quite sad but he really didn't cry too much.

It's really fun to watch him learn all these new things. He is usually such a happy little guy, he smiles and laughs all the time. Everyone just loves being around him. It's great to have him in our life. Time is just flying by, I can't believe he will be 1 in a couple of months!

Yesterday was fathers day. Rex and I got Chad a sword (he collects them) and we had a BBQ on Saturday then Sunday we took our parents up to St George for dinner. It was a nice weekend. But it went wayyyy too fast! I feel very blessed to have Chad as the father to our child. He is so great with him and loves him so much. Couldn't ask for a better daddy!

In just a couple of weeks we will be on our way to Colorado to visit Chad's side of the family. A lot of his family hasn't met Jadon yet so it will be fun. I've never been to the part of Colorado we are going to. It's a very small town but Cody and Brandi said there are vineyards there and lots of cool things to do so it will be nice and defiantly a welcomed break to the heat that will be here by then!

I hope everyone is doing well. We love you all!

Eventful month...

Well this past month has be busy and fun. It's great that it's spring time. I love it. Easter came around and we had some pictures done by our beautiful & talented friend Mariah! They are so cute even though Rex wasn't in the best mood and the sun kept getting in his eyes. We didn't have a big Easter celebration but we did have our parents over for a BBQ and the Easter Bunny brought Jadon a little basket full of toys and books and whatnot.

Mother's day came and went - My mom gave me a ring my dad gave to her on her 1st mothers day which was really sweet. Chad got us an ipod doc for the bathroom so we can listen to music while we get ready. Becky sent a really cute custom card with Jadon's picture on it and I got a few other cards as well.

Anyhow Jadon is getting really quick at his army crawl thing he has going on and is learning to pull himself up and he also babbles a bit more now... funny little dude. He makes us laugh a lot especially when he growls or laughs!

We took another road trip! We finally made our way up to SLC to see my family. Ivy's husband Jeff graduated with his master's degree, we're very proud of him! Ivy had setup a big surprise dinner party for him with all their family. Becky and Bryce came too and it was nice to spend time with them. It was so nice to FINALLY meet baby Kelsey (aka the cake). She and Jadon got along great - it was so cute to watch them play, even though Rex kept stealing the toys she was playing with lol. They even got to have a sleepover with LeeAnn (aka Honey) while Ivy, Jeff, Becky, Chad & I went out to a piano bar. While we were up north we wanted to do something we hadn't done before so we went up to Park City. Wow, what a beautiful place and the weather was just perfect! I'd really like to go back there and spend a few days sometime.

We also stopped by my aunt and uncles house so they could meet the little guy. He loved them so much, when aunt Margaret picked him up he gave her a smile and a big hug. It was very sweet. Little did we know this would be the last time we would see my uncle Bruce. He fell ill the following week and passed away one week a one day after our visit. We went back up to SLC for the funeral. It was hard, but we know he's in a better place without pain and suffering. RIP Uncle Bruce - we love you and will miss you.

It's already been another month?!?

Wow seems like I just posted that Jadon (aka Rex) was 6 months old and now another month has past! It's been a pretty busy month.

Jadon has learned the "army crawl" its pretty funny, he grunts and groans but gets wherever he wants to go pretty quickly. He's also started to growl, seriously! He growls, and it's hilarious! We have a pretty amusing baby!

We also took our 1st road trip as a family! I was a bit nervous but everything went really well. We went to Az, we stayed in Chandler which was a very cool town with lots of cool places to eat. We checked out Scottsdale as we had heard so many things, it was ok. We went to the Phoenix Zoo - that was very fun. We also went to Sedona, which was very interesting and relaxing place. And the last night we stayed in Flagstaff - which was ehhh...

Staying in a hotel for 4 nights was really different but we thankfully the only thing we forgot was swimsuits! Sooo... not the biggest deal but I couldn't find a new one for myself or little Rex so no swimming for us but we were busy enough.

Jadon has been eating very well, he enjoys everything we let him try, he even likes to lick lemons! That's my boy! Well, we did let him try guacamole and he wasnt too fond of that, maybe we'll try that one again sometime.

Well... that's our quick monthly update. I need to add pics and maybe even figure out how to post video so everyone can see how he tries to crawl and growl!

Hope all is well in your worlds!

Half Year!

Half of a year has already passed since Jadon was born! Wow!! It's amazing how much he has grown and learned in such a short amount of time. Very cool to watch.

We took him to the Dr last Thursday. He is 16lbs 12oz and 26.5 inches tall. Which is within normal range. The Dr said his head is looking better and all around he looks healthy! What more can we ask for?

He is a pro at sitting up now, he can grab toys (or whatever else he wants, like my shoes!) and move them from hand to hand, he laughs and it sooooo funny - Chad said he sounds like white noise it's silly. We go on walks/jogs about 5 times a week, he loves to go - he'll look all around and just hang out and enjoy the fresh air. He's also been trying new foods, so far he's tried peas, carrots and sweet potatoes. He loves them all! Such a good little eater we have. I hope it stays this way.

Rex is our happy little baby... he smiles and laughs for everyone. He especially loves his daddy though! They have quite the bond between them, it's really special and it warms my heart to see them interact. He of course thinks all his grandparents are great as well, they doddle over him and shower him with love and millions of kisses. What a life!

A few weeks ago Cody and Brandi came down and we were able to meet Aspyn! She's so cute, it sucks they live so far away now. Jordyn is getting big and they all look great and very happy. Jadon likes Aspyn, he tried to grab at her and they were talking - makes you wonder what they are thinking about. Hopefully this summer we can take a break from the heat and make a trip out to visit them.

Well that's all for now! Hope you all are well! Spring is nearly here!! YAY!!! Love you all!

5 months!

Ok - I know I keep saying I will get better at keeping up with this blog but it seems like I keep getting worse!

Jadon is now 5 months old!! He is such a funny little dude. Over the past month he has started eating cereal, learned to roll from his back to tummy (he kind of gets his arm stuck though) and he can almost sit up on his own! Such an amazing process to watch him grow and learn. He likes to "talk" and giggle. He really likes to reach for my phone, lucky for him I just got a new phone so he will be able to push the buttons and play with the old one.

Both sets of grandparents really enjoy the time they get to spend with Jadon which really makes it nice. He loves his grandparents too - he just lights up when he sees any of them. Such a cutie!

I recently bought a jogging stroller and we have gone out a couple times with it so far and he seems to like it, in fact he has fallen asleep both times. I lost all the weight I gained while pregnant a while ago and lost some beyond that but I would really like to get into better shape and live a healthy lifestyle, it'll be good for me and for Jadon too. Chad has been eating more vegetarian foods which is pretty cool. I enjoy having yummy home cooked meals with him. He still enjoys meat and animal products and has no intention to give them up which is fine so I think he really enjoys when we do go out to eat haha.

Well, that's all the updates I can think of for the moment. The upcoming weeks are going to be busy. Cody, Brandi, Jordyn & Aspyn will be here next week (very excited to meet Aspyn and see them!) Chad's birthday and our anniversary is also this month. We are going to Vegas overnight and I have something pretty fun planned - I hope Chad enjoys it.

Hope all is well for everyone. Love you all!
